Tim Culloton was born in Chicago in 1972, and received a double major of 2D and 3D studio art from Eastern Illinois University. 5 years out of college with construction and prop shop experience under his belt, Tim set out to San Francisco where he utilized his extensive sculpture and construction background to gain employment at the concrete countertop mecca, Buddy Rhodes Studio. Hired as a mold maker and installer he quickly fell in love with the medium and what could be attained through it. The constant exchanging of ideas among employees and the frequent presence of ringer artisans called in for special projects became an added bonus to the tutelage gained at BRS. Buddy's encouragement of experimentation with concrete among his workers and the intense work load made the 2 years with Buddy seem like a master of arts degree in concrete design. In 2002 Tim moved to Los Angeles to explore the possibilities of working in collaboration with other fabricators and artists to expound on the possibilities of concrete design. Convinced that Tim's vision of the medium was unique, Culloton Design was started in 2003 and began doing poured-in-place and pre-cast pieces in bathrooms, kitchens, bars, restaurants, living rooms and offices.
